WALK SACCO is the financial-inclusion pillar of WALK Creative Arts Foundation — a member-owned savings and credit cooperative giving Northern Uganda's creatives a secure place to save, affordable credit to grow, and a financial home designed around creative income.
The SACCO is one pillar of WALK Creative Arts Foundation's work. Across Acholi, Lango, West Nile and Karamoja, creatives are often locked out of conventional finance because creative income is irregular and poorly understood by traditional lenders. WALK SACCO turns that on its head: it is owned by the creatives themselves, governed by member-elected leadership, and built around the way creative money actually flows — up in thriving seasons, down in quiet ones, always in motion.
Our member base across the WALK region: Acholi 187 · Lango 142 · West Nile 109 · Karamoja 87
Creative income is often irregular. Our savings products are designed to be flexible, allowing you to contribute more when your projects are thriving and less during quieter creative seasons — with no penalties.
The foundation of your membership. Save regularly to build your creditworthiness and qualify for loans.
Lock away surplus income from major projects for a set period and earn higher interest rates.
Tailored credit for every stage of your creative journey. Our standard rate is 5% flat annual interest on the original loan principal, prorated by the loan term.
Financing for activities such as music, film, performing arts, drama, publishing and creative productions. We understand that your output is your asset.
Financing for equipment and other work-related instruments — cameras, instruments, studio gear, or high-performance computers.
Working capital for business, agriculture and events.

Loan processing fee: UGX 30,000. This is a separate fee, not interest. It is not included in the total repayment above.
WALK SACCO charges 5% flat annual interest on the original loan principal. Interest is prorated by the loan term using principal × 5% × (months ÷ 12). It is fixed at the start and does not reduce as you repay. For example, 6 months attracts 2.5% interest and 24 months attracts 10%.
Example — UGX 10,000,000 over 12 months: monthly instalment UGX 875,000; total interest UGX 500,000; total repayment UGX 10,500,000.
A separate UGX 30,000 loan processing fee applies. It is a fee, not interest, and is not included in the total repayment above. Figures are rounded to the nearest shilling; your final schedule is set out in your loan agreement.
Five simple steps from saving to repayment.
Build a record of consistent saving with the SACCO. This is the foundation of your creditworthiness and, typically, your first loan eligibility after a three-month saving period.
Visit the SACCO office in Gulu City or contact the team to begin your loan application. The team will confirm the loan products you qualify for.
The loan committee reviews your application against the SACCO's savings and lending policy. Your maximum loan amount is typically based on your total savings and creative activity.
Approved members sign a loan agreement setting out the loan amount, interest rate, repayment term and the responsibilities of both sides.
Funds are disbursed and repaid in monthly instalments designed to work with the rhythm of creative income.
WALK SACCO offers loans for creative production, equipment and assets, working capital and group-guaranteed credit. Every application is assessed by the loan committee under the SACCO's savings and lending policy.
The SACCO team will guide you through eligibility, savings and the right loan product for your creative work.

Before borrowing, confirm the monthly instalment fits your income — even in a quieter creative season.
Consistent saving builds your creditworthiness and reduces the amount you need to borrow.
Understand the interest rate, fees, repayment term and consequences before you sign anything.
